I use a variety of alternative firing techniques with my slab-constructed pottery. One method is called Raku in which the red-hot pottery is removed with tongs from the kiln and placed in a container of combustible materials. Another method involves carbonizing actual horsehair onto the hot pottery surface, and the third technique uses ferric chloride which is an etchant solution used in industry.

The exciting part of these firing techniques is discovering the uniqueness of each individual piece.

Because I do primarily one of a kind pieces, this gallery contains only a small sampling of my work.
